The Column Load is Reduced Through the Use of an Air Support System

Air cavities are provided between the way and the mating surface of the column. By charging these cavities with low pressure air, the load on the way surface is significantly reduced. This system minimizes friction and heat generation on the ways and enables high speed servo response.

The end result is a way system that performs like high speed ways without sacrificing the rigidity and stability of conventional box way designs.

Cooling-lubrication on ball screws.

An oil & air Cooling/lubrication system has been adopted on the ball screws, ball nuts, and support bearings to enable the 32m/min(1,260ipm) rapid traverse rate (option). This same type of lubricating system has been traditionally used in conjunction with our high performance spindle designs. The implementation of this new system on the ball screw minimizes heat generation and contributes to increased screw life and accuracy.
