High-Productivity Vertical Turning with Integrated Workpiece Transfer

The Hessapp DVT Series combines proven pick-up vertical turning technology with an innovative workpiece transfer concept to deliver efficient, highly integrated machining. Designed for manufacturers seeking shorter cycle times, consistent machining accuracy, and reduced handling, the DVT performs sequential machining operations on both sides of a component within a single machine.

Rather than requiring two separate turning machines connected by external automation and a turnover station, the DVT integrates the transfer process into its machine design. A traveling, suspended motor spindle picks up the workpiece, machines the first side, and transfers the part to a stationary motor spindle for machining the opposite side.

The result is a compact, automated manufacturing solution that minimizes workpiece handling while maintaining accurate positioning between machining operations.

One Machine. Two Machining Operations. Less Handling.

The defining feature of the DVT Series is its integrated transfer technology. By combining two machining positions within one enclosed working area, Hessapp eliminates the need for an external workpiece turnover station between the first and second chucking operations.

Key advantages include:

  • Automatic loading and unloading: Integrated transfer technology supports automated workpiece handling.

  • Accurate workpiece transfer: The transfer concept is designed to maintain high positioning accuracy between machining operations.

  • Reduced non-cutting time: Short axis travels and integrated handling help minimize auxiliary process time.

  • Smaller production footprint: A single DVT machine can replace a two-machine arrangement with connecting automation and a turnover station.

  • Improved process integration: Both sides of the workpiece can be machined in a coordinated sequence without moving the part between separate machines.

  • Operator accessibility: A fully guarded working area provides visibility of the complete machining process.
